Born in Turkey, Dr. Goksel received his medical degree from the University Of Ankara School Of Medicine in 1989. He completed a family medicine residency in 1993 at Ankara State Hospital, a pathology residency in 2000 at the University of Illinois and an internal medicine residency in 2003 at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He completed a hematology/oncology fellowship at Fletcher Allen Health Care University of Vermont in 2006.
